Abstracts are invited for HUPO 2010 Poster and Oral Presentations.

Format of HUPO 2010

The Congress will include plenary sessions, scientific symposia presentations and poster presentations.

  • Plenary Sessions
    There will be a number of plenary sessions featuring leading International and Australian speakers.


  • Concurrent Symposia Sessions
    There will be a total of 30 symposia sessions, which will cover the Congress three theme threads (see Program section of HUPO 2010 website for further details about Symposia sessions).


  • Poster Sessions
    There will be afternoon poster sessions where authors will be present on their research. The posters, clustered by topic will be viewable on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Exhibition Hall. Posters should be (maximum 1m wide x 1.2m high presented in portrait style only).

All abstracts must be submitted online by 30 April 2010. Please note that the closing date for abstract submission will NOT be extended and abstracts will only be accepted if the author has registered for HUPO 2010. All accepted abstracts will be published in the HUPO 2010 Abstract Book.

Abstract Submission Details

  • Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed.
  • Abstracts should be original work.
  • All abstracts must conform to the following requirements:


    • include a short title (up to 20 words)
    • maximum 300 words
    • structured with the headings: Background, Methods, Results & Conclusions is encouraged but not compulsory
    • Authors are to use Arial font in point size 10
    • include the presenting author's contact details including institution, address, email, telephone and fax
    • indicate the preferred presentation format (oral or poster) Poster authors should indicate if they wish to be considered for (i) HUPO Proteomics Idol Student Awards (solely for graduate and postgraduate students who have not been awarded their PhD by 30 April 2010) or (ii) oral presentation in the HUPO Young Guns Awards session (solely for postdoctoral scientists who have received their PhD less than 5 yrs before the commencement of the Congress).


  • Abstracts may NOT contain tables, pictures, diagrams.
  • Abstracts may contain symbols such as Greek letters or arrows
  • All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.
  • Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar and may be disqualified if not professionally prepared.
  • Abstracts must be submitted by 30 April 2010 for consideration by the Scientific Program Committee. Authors will be notified of provisional acceptance of abstracts by 1 July 2010 and will also be notified if the abstract has been selected for an oral or poster presentation.
  • To be accepted into the final program, abstract authors must be registered for the Congress, by 15 July 2010.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted in text format via the abstract submission online form only.

Terms and Conditions:

  • The submission of an abstract and the ticking of the box in the abstract submission form indicate an understanding of the following rules for participation in HUPO 2010.
  • All author(s) approve submitting this work for presentation.
  • The Author(s) agree(s) to materially confine their presentations to information in the abstract if accepted for presentation; if an author has more than one abstract accepted, each presentation will be materially confined to the information in the abstract selected for the specific session.
  • At least one author will be available to present the abstract if selected for the program. The authors will immediately notify the HUPO 2010 Secretariat if they are unable to present an abstract or if the presenting author is changed.
  • Authors must disclose potential conflict of interest, sources of funding and affiliations with sponsoring companies, if applicable. This should be indicated at the end of the abstract text itself.
